This may very well be my last blog post of my trip to Malaysia, so I decided I would give you a summary of what God has taught and shown me this month.
He taught me:
•How to build relationships built on the intentional pursuit to see Jesus within them
•That My worth is in the cross
•How to live in the freedom that Christ provides
•How to pray deeply and hear Him more clearly
•How to be still! (Such a hard one to learn, but completely necessary and freeing!)
•How to depend on Him for literally everything
•To seek out His glory everywhere
•How to serve wholeheartedly, depending on his strength (quite literally-could have been crushed while building a rock climbing wall)
•How to love strangers well and share the Gospel boldly
•To fear Him, not man
•How to speak the truth in love, building up a community that encourages one another towards Christ
•That I have way more than I need
•That every moment, even an uber drive home, can be used for His glory
•God’s power is not bounded by governmental regulations, and nothing is too big for Him to overcome
•How to abide in Him every single day
•How to live an ordinary life still on mission to build His kingdom
•How to see myself as God sees me, a daughter treasured and delighted in by a God who died to know me
•How to hear His voice and obey with confidence
•How to be comfortable with being uncomfortable
•How to let go of control and trust fully in God’s plan
•How to let Him in to provide necessary healing and restoration
This month, we partnered with the House of Prayer here in Penang to pray for the community, missionaries, ourselves, the church, and so much more. This taught me the importance of prayer and how to deepen my intimacy with the Lord by listening to His voice. He has so much to say, and It is truly beautiful!
We served a cafe called Let’s Meat. They are expanding their cafe, building a rock climbing gym, and have also started a house church. We got to help with the remodel and also play with their kids and give them some much needed personal time to relax. This ministry gave me lasting friendships that I will treasure forever, teaching me that ministry is all about meeting people where they are, serving their needs and loving selflessly.
We also partnered with YWAM to do street outreach. This ministry immersed us in the community and really revealed to me how broken the people here truly are. Outreach allowed me to meet and pray for people and taught me how to have radical faith. This ministry was out of my comfort zone at the beginning, but I have come to be thankful for what it showed me and how it gave me a chance to depend on The Spirit for guidance and courage.
Finally, we served with Kawan, a local homeless shelter that provides meals, showers, and beds to people in the area. I sang worship songs in Chinese, learned to cook spicy chicken curry, and watch God meet the needs of many people!
I spent the month surrounded by some of the most passionate, courageous Christ followers, celebrating all that God is doing around the world to fight for the hearts of mankind. I watched as He changed the lives of people around me and felt Him at work in my own heart as well. I experienced some much needed healing and encouragement, and I cannot wait to see how this month changes my life forever.
Overall, this month has completely shifted my perspective of the world and opened my eyes to see how God is working in my life and all around the world. His kingdom is coming and I am ecstatic about it!
